Try Neotone

How You Can Experience the Digital Handpan Yourself

Since the end of 2025, I’ve had the honor of becoming an ambassador (endorser) for Neotone. That feels especially meaningful because many of the other ambassadors are musicians I’ve admired for years in the handpan world.

A digital handpan had been on my wish list for a long time, so being part of this group now feels incredible.

Over the past months, I’ve spoken with many handpan players who are curious and want to try Neotone themselves. That interest usually comes from a familiar need: you already own one or more acoustic handpans, but you’re looking for more variety in scales and tunings.

I also often hear the wish to play in complete silence — for example with headphones — without disturbing anyone around you.

I completely understand those considerations. The ability to switch between different tunings is a huge advantage. And the digital aspect opens even more possibilities: silent practice with headphones, easy recording, experimenting with effects, and much more.

The question “Can I try a Neotone first?” comes up all the time — and understandably so. It’s a significant investment, and you want to know whether it fits your playing style. That’s exactly why I’m writing this blog: to explain the different ways you can try Neotone yourself.

My Role as a Neotone Ambassador

It may help to clarify my role. Sometimes people assume that, as an ambassador, I sell Neotones. I understand the confusion, but that’s not the case. My involvement comes from my work as a performing musician; I collaborate with Neotone as a player, not as a seller.

So I’m not a sales point. However, I can share personal discount codes that give you 5% off when purchasing a Neotone through their official website. These codes are individual, so feel free to message me if you’re interested.

How to Try Neotone

If you’re considering a digital handpan, you probably want to try Neotone before making a decision. As I mentioned earlier, that’s completely understandable. Still, the number of questions I received about this was higher than expected.

While I enjoy talking about Neotone, my main focus is on playing and my work as a musician. At the same time, I want to support the need to experience the instrument firsthand — and I’m happy to continue doing so.

Book a Session and Try Neotone Yourself

That’s why I offer dedicated sessions within my teaching practice where you can try Neotone in a calm and focused environment. These one‑hour sessions give you plenty of time to explore the instrument. I can also show you how the software works and answer any questions you may have.

These sessions follow the same rates as my live handpan lessons via Zoom. You can find the rates on my website. If you’d like to combine a Neotone trial with Zoom lessons, the lesson bundles on that same page might be interesting — discounts can go up to 15%.

Just like the Zoom lessons, these Neotone trial sessions take place on Wednesdays. You’re very welcome to visit me in Utrecht. I’ll have coffee or tea ready for you.

Lowering the Threshold to Try Neotone

Trying a Neotone is absolutely possible, and I hope this helps make the decision a little easier.

If you’re interested in a session, feel free to contact me. You’re very welcome!
